The Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland, Princess Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine, is the daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. She is the youngest child of the king and queen, having been born on June 10, 1982.
She comes behind Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip, Prince Alexander, and Prince Gabriel in the succession to the Swedish throne. One of Madeleine’s favourite causes is helping underprivileged kids all across the world.
Madeleine’s primary employment is with the World Childhood Foundation, an organization her mother created, where she works to stop the exploitation of young girls for sexual purposes and human trafficking.
She founded the #EyesWideOpen campaign in 2015 to bring attention to child sexual abuse, and she also supports the My Special Day organization, which functions similarly to the Make-a-Wish organization in the United States.
She also participates in royal occasions such as Nobel Prize ceremonies and Sweden’s National Day. The Swedish Royal Court confirmed the move and stated that Princess Madeleine has a strong dedication to children’s rights, would continue to work with the World Childhood Foundation, and would be able to concentrate more on her activities in the United States as a result of the relocation.
Following the revelation of an infidelity scandal involving her then-fiance, Jonas Bergstrom, Princess Madeleine famously called off a prior engagement. Bergstrom was allegedly “intimate” with a college student from Norway, according to press sources, and for years, the tabloids had been abuzz about his apparent partying.
Queen Silvia had informed the media that the wedding would be postponed before declaring their breakup. Finance expert Christopher O’Neill, the spouse of Princess Madeleine, was born in London and holds dual citizenship with the United Kingdom and the United States.
When Madeleine and O’Neill were spotted together in New York in 2011, rumors that they were dating began to circulate. A bystander captured the two of them in the Central Park Boathouse on camera, and the footage quickly gained popularity in Sweden.
Why Will 2024 See A Big Change For Princess Madeleine’s Family?
Next year, Princess Madeleine and her family are anticipated to bid farewell to the United States. The Swedish royal is moving to Sweden with her husband, Christopher O’Neill, and their three children, Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne.
The royal family, who have resided in Florida since 2018, was supposed to relocate to Stockholm in August of this year. The relocation was later rescheduled, though. The communications manager for the Royal Court of Sweden, Margareta Thorgren, told Expressen that the project will be delayed until 2024.
The outlet stated that the delay resulted from “the family’s time with all that a move entails being a little too short.” The five-member family will reside in an apartment at the Royal Stables in Stockholm, it was first revealed when Madeleine and Chris decided to relocate to Sweden in March 2023. In 2018, the youngest daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia relocated to Florida with her family.
The Swedish Royal Court stated before the family’s relocation that this is a great time and opportunity for them to return to the United States as the kids are still in preschool. They also added that Princess Madeleine is adamantly dedicated to children’s rights and will keep up her work with the World Childhood Foundation. The Princess will be able to concentrate more on the foundation’s initiatives in the US thanks to the relocation.
In addition to his current business ventures in the United States, Mr Christopher O’Neill intends to pursue commercial endeavours in Europe. A bit simpler in a warmer climate, Madeleine explained in an interview with the Swedish magazine Mama in 2019 about her life in Florida. “All you need here is shorts and a T-shirt,” she said.
The Princess acknowledged in the interview that the kids had been anticipating their trip to Sweden for a very long time, as well as their rooms and belongings. In addition, we spend a lot more time outside than we did in Florida. For them to be able to run around in the forest is a dream since it’s so hot there, and you can only be outside for brief periods. And I must admit that I have truly missed it.
