The Wheel Of Time Season 3: Everything We Know

The second season of the high-fantasy adventure show on Amazon Prime Video starring Rosamund Pike, The Wheel of Time, just concluded its run, and we are left wondering what’s going to happen next.

Considering that this is a series that comes from an adaptation of books penned a long time ago and that that book series is lengthier than G.R.R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones”, and —unlike Martin’s work— it is actually finished, one can only wonder what’s going to happen with season three.

So, today we’re going to explore a few things about the plot for the sophomore season, and what are the possibilities for a renewal, and in the case there’s a renewal, when do we get to see it. Because if you haven’t seen it, I recommend you do. It is a very captivating story if you’re a fan of high fantasy like The Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, and many more.

With all that tension, thrills, and plotting, season two ended up in a bit of a showdown —if not a Mexican standoff with wands and powerful spell crafting— out in Falme.

Still, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and see what season two had for us. There are a few spoilers in this piece for context, so, if you don’t mind those, that’s ok. For those who do, I still have to warn you about them.

The Wheel Of Time Season 2 Plot Lines

As we stated in the intro, Falme became the center of a big showdown, and Egwene is the central player here. As we saw from all angles and the build-up in the episodes ahead of the season 2 finale, Egwene’s buddies formed a party to help her out.

Meanwhile, Falme is being stormed by the Whitecloasks, and this bunch wants to free Falme from the Seanchan. They are going to kill, and they and they don’t mind killing those who stand in their way.

Moiraine, Rand, and Lan are gathered by Lanfear across that thing they call “The Ways,” but she chooses to split them to let things unfold in the way that is most convenient for her.

Lan and Moiraine are outside the city walls, so they can’t help Rand, who’s traversing the inner city in search of Egwene. Bear in mind that Egwene is in a bit of a pickle because he’s on the front lines to fight them Whitecloaks.

The search party is not short of characters, because Nynaeve and Elayne are trying to get to the tower, but time isn’t on their side. As for Ishamael, he finds out that Lanfear is doublecrossing him, so, he murders Rand and must wait for another iteration of the dragon to come around.

The reason the Forsaken were interested in bringing Rand to Falme was that this was the place the Dragon Reborn was meant to make his declaration and, more crucially, pick a side.

Ishamael knew that Rand would never take the dark side in the current situation. He’ll want to be on the other side, where all of his friends are. In order to see his friends first, he wanted to wait a little. However, Lanfear scuttles his plans by bringing Rand to Falme.

Rand was only in Falme in order to save Egwene, but when he finds her, she has managed to save herself. She turns Sul’dam against her by using the same trick that worked to capture her.

Rand’s only option at this point is to try to rescue her from the mayhem that has broken out throughout the city, but Ishamael stops them. Despite their great strength, Egwene and Rand are too untrained to battle Ishamael, who easily subdues them.

Ishamael chooses to protect Rand with Damane’s assistance and to be kind to him in the event that he declines to support them in the impending conflict.

Rand’s situation worsens when Mat appears and hurls the knife at Ishamael, only to discover that it is only Mat’s illusion of Ishamael. Mat throws the knife, which hits Rand—who is already vulnerable due to the shield—through the illusion. Egwene intervenes to prevent Ishamael from completing the task. She puts all of her strength into making a shield that deters Ishamael’s attacks.

Rand is released from the shield when Moiraine, observing what the Damane are doing, topples their ship. By now, Perrin was assisting Egwene in maintaining the shield, and Nynaeve and Elayne had reached the tower, where they had bandaged Rand’s knife wound.

Rand uses his sword to stab Ishamael through the chest as soon as he is no longer shielded and can use his full power. When the mission is completed, the sword breaks down, and Ishamael becomes dust before being killed by the Dragon Reborn.

The Wheel Of Time Season 3 Renewal Status

The Wheel of Time Season 3 is officially renewed, as confirmed by Amazon Prime. Still, it will be quite some time before we see it making its way to our screens. The third season will pick elements from books 4 and five. Still, there are a few details concerning this production that might halt its production: There’s a big SAG-AFTRA strike to which the scriptwriters are adhering.

And that strike puts a dent in pretty much every production out there. Still, once the producers and the scriptwriter’s guild get over that hurdle, we could see that The Wheel of Time’s third season will start production.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 Cast

We can expect the entirety of the cast for this show to return, including Hammed Animshaum as Loial, Johann Myers as Padan Fain, Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, Jennifer Cheon Garcia as Leane SHarif, Priyanka Bose as Alanna, Kae Alexander as Min, Jay Duffy as Dain, Ayoola Smart as Aviendha, Laia Costa as Moghedien, Meera Syal as Verin Mathwin, Taylor Napier as Maksin, Rosamund Pike as Moraine, Zoe Robins as Nynaeve, Daniel Henney as Lan and Josha Stradowski as Rand.

The Wheel Of Time Season 3 Possible Plot Lines

The Shadow Rising will serve as the basis for the third season of Wheel of Time. The show may either omit book three, The Dragon Reborn or incorporate elements of it with The Shadow Rising because it is the fourth book in the series.

In the relevant novel, Perrin returns to the Two Rivers, while Rand, Mat, and Egwene travel to the Aiel Waste. This development is already preordained because Rand has been identified as the Car’a’carn by Aviendha of the Aiel. Considering that, his next stop is probably the Aiel Waste.

Regarding the antagonist, in the last scene of the second season finale, Lanfear confronted Moghedien, a member of the Forsaken who had not been seen before. The Dreamwalking channeler, portrayed by Laia Costa, appears to be their greatest danger.

She won’t be alone, though, because Ishamael freed all of the surviving Forsaken prior to his passing, according to Moghedien. By doing this, Ishamael prepared the way for the main characters to face off against a few antagonists who could end up being the main antagonist of The Wheel of Time season 3.
