Yesterday, the official Twitter page for the anime programming block Anime TV shared news about the popular dark fantasy anime Jujutsu Kaisen. They revealed that the last episode of the current second season will be broadcast next Wednesday, December 28th. This finale will cap off the intense Shibuya story arc that has spanned season two thus far.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to a new episode today that may showcase the sinister curse user Kenjaku battling the heroic jujutsu sorcerers.
This fight could bring the catastrophic Shibuya arc to an emotive conclusion right before the narrative transitions into the highly anticipated Culling Game competition arc.
Where the story goes next remains a mystery, but viewers can likely expect dramatic turns and visual spectacle, as always in this supernatural action series.
What We Can Expect From The Season Finale
The latest installment of the supernatural action anime Jujutsu Kaisen looks to ramp up the tension as the climactic Shibuya Incident arc approaches its finale. In the previous episode, protagonist Yuji Itadori seemingly had the upper hand against the body-morphing curse Mahito.
But right when victory seemed assured, the mastermind behind the arc’s chaos, Sukuna’s vessel Geto, dramatically appeared on the scene. Now facing this immense threat that orchestrated mass destruction, Yuji faces his greatest challenge yet.
Luckily, backup for Yuji may be on the way in unexpected forms, as teased in snippets catching up with other characters.
Panda and Kusakabe are shown still maneuvering through Shibuya’s rubble, beaten but alive. In a surprise shift, sorcerers Mei Mei and Ui Ui are mysteriously relaxed in Malaysia, apparently having dealt with their own battles off-screen.
Most intriguingly, Yuji’s half-brother Choso is seen struggling with an unexplained revelation that shakes his view of Yuji. How all these threads come together remains unclear, but the pieces are in motion for a suspenseful, game-changing climax.
Yuji Faces Overwhelming Odds, Reinforcements Arrive, and Choso Enters the Fray
After briefly checking in with other characters, the episode returns to the central confrontation as Yuji fruitlessly attacks the overwhelming Geto alone.
Geto casually lectures Yuji while effortlessly keeping him at bay, displaying his immense power. He even reduces the fading Mahito to an energy orb he consumes, an unsatisfying end for the hated villain.
However, the tide turns when the episode delivers reinforcements to challenge Geto’s control of the battlefield.
Panda, Kusakabe, Miwa, and others sent away earlier all arrive to launch attacks, though these also fail to breach Geto’s defenses. The final game-changing combatant making a dramatic entrance is none other than Yuji’s half-brother Choso, setting up next week’s climax.
With the key players now on the board, the stage is set for a suspenseful showdown where the fate of Shibuya and Yuji himself hangs in the balance.
Choso’s Fierce Battle
As Choso and Noritoshi’s explosive battle rages, further chaos unfolds when an unexpected ally of the villain suddenly enters the fray – freezing the surrounding sorcerers in place with his power and shifting the tide.
Now, only Yuji, Choso, and one other mobile fighter remain against the intimidating foes.
Just as all seems lost, the episode delivers one final surprise in its closing moments. Yuki Tsukumo, an enigmatic figure tied to Noritoshi’s past as Geto, dramatically arrives on the scene – though what role she will play remains a tantalizing mystery.
This installment excels in every aspect – delivering thrilling action setpieces, huge narrative revelations that recontextualize the story, and ending on a suspenseful climax that leaves viewers desperately awaiting answers.
With the finale looming ahead, the stage is thoroughly set for a blockbuster conclusion after this episode’s masterful buildup of game-changing twists and introduced threads.
Megumi’s Struggle, Gojo’s Wisdom, and the Awakening of a Formidable Curse
The latest developments see the evil Sukuna’s fingers scattered across the world resonating with power, including one finger hidden inside Yuji that activates after he swallows another one.
This unleashes an incredibly formidable special-grade curse that dwarfs even the detention center beast Megumi previously fought. Its power shatters Megumi’s tools with one blast and blitzes around too fast for Megumi to summon reinforcements.
Megumi had recently asked Gojo to train him due to feeling pressure from Yuji’s growth. Gojo believes Megumi has higher potential but is held back mentally. He says Megumi doesn’t know how to tap into his full ability. When Megumi protests working his hardest, Gojo clarifies – that Megumi doesn’t understand how to try his best.
Gojo refers to how Megumi plays a support role, sacrificing himself so allies can advance, unlike swing-for-the-fences Yuji. But Gojo stresses that sorcerers ultimately fight alone.
Megumi only measures himself against others rather than envisioning his own future strength. Megumi intends to sacrifice himself when needed, but Gojo draws a distinction between dying and winning and dying victoriously. He pushes Megumi to be selfish and unleash his imagination.
Spurred by this, Megumi sheds his restraints. He decides to let his creativity flow wildly rather than playing it safe.
