Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 2: Release Date, Spoilers & Recap

Dick Wolf’s One Chicago series have all three been renewed, which means that Chicago Med season nine will feature more stories from Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

With a complete world of first responders, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. are part of the One Chicago family of shows, and there are many crossover moments across the three series.

The third game in the One Chicago series, Chicago Med, follows the lives of the medical professionals who work in the emergency room of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

You never know who famous face will show up at the ER; characters from Chicago P.D. and Fire frequently mix. The personal lives of the Chicago Med doctors and residents have captured the attention of One Chicago followers, who claim that life is never boring for these professionals.

In the ninth season of Chicago Med, which picks up six months later, the doctor is on the eve of his kidney transplant procedure. Sean, his son, is cleared for the surgery despite abusing drugs and going off the wagon the previous season.

Sean continues to insist that he wants to donate, even after Dean tells him he doesn’t have to. The two men begin to apologize to one another. He continues, “This is the happiest day of my life right now.”

However, Dean asks if Sean would be a match for a young child who arrives in the emergency department (ED) with a failing transplanted kidney. (He isn’t.)

When Hannah hears, she approaches Dean to confront him. Dean acknowledges that, as a bad father, he doesn’t think he deserves Sean’s sacrifice.

Hannah observes that Sean’s current desire is to connect with his father authentically rather than use drugs. Hannah replies, “You feel unworthy, but you will destroy Sean if you deny him this.”

It’s official—the transplant is on after that conversation. Additionally, the young child receives a kidney from Hannah’s brain-dead patient. Dr Mitch Ripley, who plays Luke Mitchell in the ED, appears familiar to Dr Charles, but not because he used to watch Blindspot, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Legacies, The Tomorrow People, or any number of other television series.

Upon hearing that the newcomer and he first met twenty years ago, Charles looks up his former case file for Mitch, an aggressive adolescent with an impulse control problem who admitted another child to the hospital.

Furthermore, Charles continues to have some reservations about Mitch, particularly after the latter causes a patient to experience an episode by stopping one of his bipolar medications.

Charles labels Mitch’s action as risky after learning that he made it without consulting a psychiatrist. Mitch replies, “Do not treat me like the boy you knew 20 years ago.” Subsequently, Charles informs Mitch that although he’s impressed with how he’s changed his life, Mitch isn’t prepared to go on and forgive. He implies that Charles overmedicated him when he was in jail before abandoning him.
